Macbook Pro Zbrush

Mac

Hi wms44,
I understand you have questions regarding the performance and capability of ZBrush with the new MacBook Pro. While I am unable to tell you how it would perform running this software, I would recommend taking a look at the Highly Recommended Specifications for Mac in the link below. These specifications may help you choose the best system for your needs.

Macbook Pro Zbrush

Both Zbrush 2020 and 2021 have been extremely unstable on my Macbook Pro (2018 32GB RAM). Zbrush constantly (every 5-20 minutes) just quits without any freeze or warning or recovered file. Support keeps telling me it's because I imported my own brushes into ZBrush, but I got rid of all the brushes except what I use all the time; about 7 brushes. The base 16-inch MacBook Pro comes with 16GB 2666MHz DDR4 memory, 512GB SSD storage, and four Thunderbolt 3 ports. The model comes standard with an AMD Radeon Pro 5300M with 4GB of GDDR6 memory graphics processor and can be upgraded to AMD Radeon Pro 5500M with 4GB of GDDR6 (for an extra $100) or AMD Radeon Pro 5500M with 8GB of GDDR6 ($200.

Macbook Pro 2019 Zbrush

Latest reported support status of ZBrush on Apple Silicon and Apple M1 Processors. Yes, as a 3d artist I would advise against all i5 equipped MacBook Pros as well as the entry level i7 2016 Mac Pro as a solution for ZBrush. Like the i5's the entry level i7 is dual core i7 CPU, not a quad core i7.
