Anyway once Chrome was installed I believed I could eject this image so I did and it just uninstalled chrome. Method 2: Install Google Chrome offline

Step 1: If your Windows computer doesn't support downloading Chrome, try to use a workable computer navigate to the alternate link.

Part 2: Remove Google Chrome Completely from Windows 10

At times, it might as well happen that your Google Chrome is out of work or constantly advertising. Therefore, you wonder to solve these issues by reinstalling Chrome. Unfortunately, always receive prompts that cannot be installed. The reason for that is you didn't remove completely.

Note: Keep in mind that all of your information will be deleted completely, including Bookmarks, Histories, Cookies, etc. So, back up before you follow the steps below.

Step 1: Set Chrome as a non-default browser

  1. Click on Start menu, in the left panel tap on Settings.
  2. On the pop-up window, click Apps.
  3. Select Default apps option. Under Web browser, click on Choose adefault. You can choose any browser you like from the options except for Google Chrome.

Step 2: Uninstall Google Chrome on your computer

  1. Type Control Panel in the search box on the taskbar and Enter.
  2. Navigate to Programs Programs and Features, select Google Chrome from the program list.
  3. Note: You can also use keyboard shortcuts 'Windows' +'R' key to load the Run dialog box. Type 'appwiz.cpl' and press Enter to reach the Programs and Features window.
  4. Click Uninstall and check the Also delete your browsing data box. Tap on the Uninstall button to remove Google Chrome from your computer.

Step 3: Delete the remaining Google Update service

  1. Press the keyboard shortcuts 'Windows' +'R' key to open the Run dialog box.
  2. Type 'cmd' and press Enter, the Command Prompt window will pop up.
  3. Input the following commands and press Enter.

sc stop gupdate

sc delete gupdate

sc stop gupdatem

sc delete gupdatem

Step 4: Disable Google Update Task User to forbid automatic update

  1. Press Windows + R key to load the Run dialog box.
  2. Type 'taskschd.msc' to open the Task Scheduler Window.
  3. Find out two Google Update Task User scheduled tasks, right-click on Ready and set as Disable instead.

Step 5: Delete the remaining Chrome files

  1. On your computer, open This PC on the desktop.
  2. Click View tab, check the Hidden items box in the Show/hide tab.

Uninstall Chrome Extensions

As I mentioned earlier, you can install as many extensions from the Chrome web store. But a user shouldn’t go overboard as some sketchy extensions might steal confidential browsing data. After some time, it’s always advisable to check the installed extension list on the Google Chrome browser and remove the unnecessary ones.

Google Chrome looks and feels identical on both Windows and Mac. The steps to remove extension on the Chrome browser is the same on both the platforms.

Step 1: Open Google Chrome browser on your Windows or Mac device.

Step 2: Tap on the three-dot menu at the upper right corner and go to Settings.

Step 3: You will find the Extension at the left sidebar. Tap on it.

Step 4: It will open a separate Extension menu in a new tab. Here, you will see all the installed extensions on your browser.

Step 5: There are two options for you. You can either turn off the extension or remove it from the browser.

If you need the extension for the later use, you can disable the extension from the menu. It will hide the extension from the browser menu bar but remains accessible from the extension menu.

Tap on the Remove option to completely remove the extension from the browser.

Alternatively, you can also right-click (or use the two-finger click if using the trackpad) on the extension in the Chrome menu bar and select Remove from Chrome.

Uninstall Chrome Apps

On sites like Twitter and Spotify, you will find the ‘+’ icon in the address bar. When you tap on it, the browser will offer you to install the PWA (Progressive Web App) on your Windows or Mac. The only problem is, you can’t treat and remove them as the traditional apps.

You can remove Chrome apps from the browser itself. Go through the steps below to remove Chrome apps.

Step 1: Open Google Chrome browser on Windows or Mac.

Step 2: Go to the Chrome apps section of the browser. Navigate to chrome://apps in the address bar and it will open the Chrome apps screen.

Step 3: Here, you will see all the installed Chrome apps. Right-click on an app and select the ‘Remove from Chrome’ option.

Mac and Windows also offer other ways to remove Chrome apps without using the Google Chrome browser.

Remove Chrome Apps From the App Menu

You can uninstall the app right from the app itself. Go through the steps below.

Step 1: Open the Chrome app on your Windows device (In the screenshot below, I opened the Twitter app).

Step 2: Tap on the three-dot menu at the upper right corner.

Step 3: Select the Uninstall Twitter option.
